"BIPARTISANSHIP and TOLERANCE" ... the time has come ....

We say we want "change"... and ... why? Well when things get tough ... that's our response. Again ... responding to what hits home ... heh, heh, heh ... it's simply our nature.Whether we want change or not ... we will get change ... it's just a matter of time ... and that element of "time" ... depends only on us. It's a matter of how soon we want it ... and how bad we want it.

The time has arrived hitting us like a lightning bolt where it really hurts. If we cant see it now ... it will only make the transition that much more difficult and lengthy to make it's stand. Bipartisanship and tolerance is needed more than ever at this point. Not that we are going to have an easy ride ... because the ride is only going to get more rough ... before it gets any better ... and when I say "better" I dont mean it like getting back to the good old days ... because that will never return ... what we once had and considered as "good" that is. The "good ole days" is ALWAY's the "here and now". Because what we call "good" is constantly changing as our species evolves.

But the longer it takes us to embrace true bipartisanship and tolerance ... the longer it will take to achieve any goals. It is not that we cant co- exist ... we can ... but our stubborness holds us back. Again ... we are far from the liberal folks that we think we are ... we have twisted the meaning of what is "liberal". We will have to stop the way we view things ... as black/ white ... red/ blue ... left/ right. The sooner we can get past this ... the easier it will be to move forward and at a quicker rate. So ... you have it all in a nutshell. We can bicker until were blue in the face ... and complain about who is right and who is wrong as well. None of it ... will get us anywheres, and that will not change. Look how damn long it took us to get where we are ... we should have evolved further than what we had ... considering the time "nature" allowed us. We will get change ... but not until we bend and give in a little more ... and stop pointing our fingers at each other so much ... that is one of a few reason's why Washington doesnt get anything done ... why our political structure/ representation is outdated and slowly deteriorating.

Revisions are needed ... so the time is not next year ... or 5 years from now. As former President JFK said ... "ask what you can do for your country ... ". We are the ones that need to act ... not just paying folks high salaries to act on our behalf ... now with the new technologies ... we are able to take our seats in Washington ourselves. And dont expect for ANY new administration to be able to fix our problems ... because they WONT be able to do as much as we hope for ... period ... no matter who is in office. Our challenges are simply different then the past challenges ... and the old school way of doing things ... does no longer apply. It's OUR choice ... on whether or not ... how long we need to suffer and at what level that suffering will be.

The "old" is over ... period. It's not "doom and gloom" either ... it's simply the end of a chapter is all ... and the end of an era. The new challenges to come ... will make some of these challenges look mild ... so adjust ... it will make the ride ... that much more easier.

Energy Independence/Offshore Drilling..... a "Twisted Fate"?

As a working class American...and a gas consumer...out of desperation,my first thought was to hit the offshore drilling...to hopefully ease the price at the pumps domestically. And because of the fact that even so many enviromentally aware countries around the globe are getting into the offshore exploration. I mentioned in an earlier posting...that we should go for it! But I still wanted to look into the reality of it...and the effects if any,we as American petro consumers would be able to benefit from, financially speaking. Like anyone else out there struggling to earn a living...I am just trying to pick up a little education here..and maintain a certain standard of living and a little American dignity is all.

Well...I am going to "flip-flop" on this one...I have no choice actually...and any American should carefully look at this...and question many things about energy independence and offshore drilling. And yes...even though "flip-flopping" is considered a bad thing...when our daily lives and cost of living is constantly tossed around along with our tax dollars on a daily basis...and we are constantly fed lie's by those governing the arena...I dont see how anyone these days cannot flip-flop on certain issue's.

Senator Joe Biden (D-DE) and Senator Linsey Graham (R-SC) were guests this last sunday on "Meet the Press"...although Tim Russert was not there hosting the show, his legacy that spirited it continue's to hover. And the main topic was about energy independence and offshore drilling between the two. Biden argue's that lifting the federal ban on certain offshore drilling will not do a damn bit of good. And is only an attempt to get access to all the offshore drilling period. He say's that the facts are that we already have 41 million acres offshore right now...and only 10.2 million acres are being drilled...the remaining acres he estimates at about 54 billion barrel's of oil at our disposal...for the taking any time we want it. Which he claims is roughly 30 million leased acres with about 79% of all the offshore drilling available already, and it's already leased and ready to drill and a green light. The question is...if this is so...then why are we not drilling? Biden say's that this is an attempt to get unlimited access to all offshore...period,including that last amount left only protected by the federal ban. Hmmm..imagine that...and why do I feel like there is some truth to that?

On the other side of the ring...we have the "right" represented by Senator Linsey Graham...argueing that we need to lift the ban so we can drill more...yet..at the same time...cannot give even a remote time frame of how long would it take for American's to feel the financial benefit at the pump's for doing so. Yet Graham time and time again in the past has opposed lifting this federal ban...even stating that doing so would be detrimental to the economy along the coast lines...for states like his of South Carolina for instance. He said he is only flip-flopping on this now, because of the $4.00 a gallon price tag...which I can certainly understand...however that still doesnt answer the question that Biden brought up as to "Why" we are not already drilling? That is a little confusing...heh? Graham has also stated in the past of the detrimental impact to the coast lines "enviroment". But...despite his dedication to going green will support the ban lift now...because of new enviromentally friendly technologies for drilling...okay..I'll buy that. Always good to hear a right winger who is so enviromentally concerned...heh? Graham states that McCain is all about seeking a goal of totally getting away from fossil fuels period..and becoming energy independent domestically as well...okay..that sounds nice to...so I'll buy it!

But still...about the other question presented by Senator Biden...when will we consumers feel the impact? And why are so many federally approved acres now not being drilled and utilized? Another question of coarse is...if we do lift the ban exactly when will this proposed drilling start and how long will it take for the oil to be flowing in full stage? 10 years or more? And what will that do about prices now...or even next year...or even as Senator Obama asked...how about even 5 years from now? Maybe those other acres pre approved now for drilling are not being currently drilled because the oil companies dont want to damage the enviroment..
you think? Well...I sure as hell dont know...but what I do know is that somebody is sure "full of it" here! Some like Biden and even Obama think that this is all being pressed right now...to try to lift the ban before Bush leaves office. Hmmm.. imagine that.

I was trying to pick up a little talk of that, that was going on recently in Jeddah,Saudi Arabia...you know...about asking the Saudi's to boost production...try to figure out how to moderate the prices and so forth. Then I ask myself..."Why?" I mean...is this "all" up to the Saudi's? Then I was reading an article by "Syed Rashid
Husain" a journalist for the "Arab News" that 60% of today's crude oil prices are pure speculation driven by large trader bank's and hedge fund's....Hmmm...imagine that...60%? Then we have the current administration(Bush/Cheney) saying that we are too addicted to oil..and that we not only need to be more domestically independent and less dependent on foreign oil..and at the same time through their new candidate McCain saying that the top of their agenda is not only that...but to totally get away from fossil fuels. So I ask myself now...if this "is" the case...why ignore the current acre's approved for drilling...and why ask for more or all acres to be approved and the federal ban lifted? And why so much focus now to expand exploration that can only be productive in a generation or more...if their claim is by then...we wont even be needing fossil fuel's period for energy? And not only America calling for massive exploration expansion...but even our so called enviromental allie's doing the same? So you can see my point...something dont add up here.

So...as a result of this...I had to flip-flop on the issue of lifting the ban on offshore drilling that currently is in place...because I cannot figure out, what actual good it would do as far as petro prices are concerned...or even making us more energy independent...to me this just all seem's like a "Twisted Fate".

Global Warming and Energy Demand

As I touched on in earlier posts..Global Warming I think is real...and should be a major concern. However...I didnt need scientist's to tell me how much of a problem this is. Even hunting as a kid..then going back into the city..I knew something we're doing was wrong. It doesnt take a college degree to figure out that all this crap we put into the air and waters...is no good to the enviroment. And as far as the "official" threat from the world of science....hell...they found a hole in the ozone(huge) back in the 70's! Our biggest problem here is not our exploration and drilling. Our biggest problem was our negligence to respond to the problem on a serious level back in the 70's. We dont react to things until it hits home and our pocketbook's. 21st century humanity...is all now about..."going green".

This all has been for American's another example of our dual society fight between the left and the right...as usual. (I am not right nor left)Many of our newest cities like here in the Southwest are even designed...based on cheap energy, endless sprawl...with mega sprawl and mega climate control(air conditioning) cities such as Dallas,Salt Lake City,Phoenix,Los Angeles and so on. We all have difficult times in these cities trying to meet mass transit demands as well.Look at Portland,OR. for instance...which is designed more compact, like Northeastern or European cities...and that is why...cities like Portland...have public transit that works very well. At least a hell of alot better then Dallas or Los Angeles's!

And now I hear that China is building new coal plants every 2 weeks and even less. The first thing on Russia's agenda...is tax cuts for oil companies, as for exploration incentives...by the way...Moscow is booming in business partly because of it's oil boom. The European Union has 40 coal plants scheduled for the next 2 years. Iran currently building 7 refineries to boost its crude and gas refining capacities.Russia's first agenda in their first cabinet meeting was to implement new ship building programmes...for...you guessed it...new offshore drilling and explorations.Brazil has about 75% of the world's ships under contract that are the only of it's kind...massive in size and capable of this exploration in waters that are 5000'ft plus deep. According to Byron King...editor of "Outstanding Investments" we are some the only ones not taking a piece of the action....us...the USA. But what is suprising to me is...Brazil,the E.U. and such? These are some of the most enviromentally aware countries...you know...going green...saying no to pollution.. blah, blah, blah. Mr.King thinks at the rate we are taking things...it will be no time before we are paying amounts like $6 to$7 a gallon perhaps for petro. 5 years ago I was telling folks that in the near future...we will see $3 a gallon as a great bargain....that time has arrived and passed.

Again...as I was partly mentioning in earlier posts...we need to drill...plain and simple. Why, if this is damaging to the enviroment? Because...were going to have to take a hit one way or another any way you slice it. You see...energy is something that hits home everyday...at the break of dawn...global warming is something that is going to effect us for the next century...like it or not...as I said...we already done the damage. Going to this extreme...thinking to just cut off from exploration and drilling...is only going to create civil unrest of a magnitude like never seen in modern human history. Like we are seeing now..with jungles being ripped out to grow corn for energy while millions are starving and many cant afford to eat. And those area's torn down will take time to replace. We have problems because of our..."ways" of survival...our needs that "we" created...our "demands"of mother nature to cater to those "needs". Plus our greed has become an indulgence that we need to put on a diet as well ...because it has turned into a compulsion.

So...what options are we looking at? Well for me...I'm no scientist, nor an economist. But I can put 2 and 2 together to see that a couple of the options are either...give in a little and work our tails off to go to greener energies and break into our reserves now and drill more, while we are developing the newer technologies and sources...because,as I mentioned earlier...even them new clean technologies are going to be big money makers in our future society...that our offspring will capitalize off of. Or we can continue to play the game we are right now...and refuse to drill and explore...only focusing on the green tech...which will take a few more years to be implemented to use on a mass scale. We can also continue to do things the way we are now...and become more dependent on foreign oil and such...creating our own civil unrest as our dollar declines..we become more in debt like welfare recipients to the world markets and global competition..as folks in our cities scrounge to eat and keep a roof over their heads too. We can say more prayers...and hope that some spirits bail us out...which is unlikely. We can flip a coin and take it from there...you can come up with any number idea's of your own. Bottom line...until we start being more independent...and set our liberal globalistic love to the side...we can only hurt economically in the long run. And I dont count on those countries friends or foe to come to our rescue and use their profits to create jobs for Americans.

We are going to take blows any way you slice it...it's a matter of how hard the blows will be that we will have to take...and frankly speaking...alot of that depends on us. And if we fall as a nation because of our economy...it is not terrorists who brought us down...it will simply be a result of our own actions. We have as well as a unique species demanded more than our fair share of mother nature...and she is collecting on it! Global Warming is a myth? Yeah right, tell that to the deaf, dumb and blind...because anyone with any senses can see otherwise.

I also see other problems we will have to face as well...to come. One is...say for instance...I go 50'ft below my home...and for the next 100'-200'ft I remove all the dirt and ground...how stable will my home stay and the ground that it sits on? What is going to happen when the ice glaciers that are already melting at an alarming rate...deposit all their fresh waters into the current salt water oceans that we have had for millions of years...what our "life" has grown and evolved from? So..as you can see...we still have many challenges to come. We can mine and drill and extract from the earth till were blue in the face...but what replaces that volume which we extracted? And what will its effects be to the suface of lands which we live on...and the floors of our oceans? I'll leave it at that.

Sen. Barack Hussein Obama, Jr (PART 1)

Well ... this man winning an election in November is certainly a shot in the dark or a crap shoot! I dont doubt that. The name arouses, anger, fear, speculation, paranoia, and a schlew of other crapolla. Things that we humans dwelled on for years. It isnt that I dont fear ... I fear everything. I wouldnt be an advocate of most American's carrying a gun if I didnt. But at the same time ... I learned long ago that fear is only as intense as we make it ... dwelling on it is pointless. I tend to be the kind of fellow that will signal the dealer to hit me (a card) when I have 17 in Black Jack, I take chances. Some are longshots ... and I have fell on my ass more than once ... but ... thats life. PART TWO HERE

Alot of folks dont want to take that chance for one reason or another in this election. We are facing difficulties ... and folks are skeptical about things like politics, and who can blame them with all the info and media floating around out there ... especially with this internet. One popular scare on the left for instance ... is that if Obama was the nominee and he lost ... and McCain got in ... would it just be an extension of Bush? Would the Supreme Court become one sided? and things like Roe vs. Wade be overturned? Would the idea of rights as equals in society as far as family and marriage go backwards for gay's? Womens rights? Would wars just become endless ... and our tax dollars just eaten away on them? And add some. So anyone can see when faced with all these things ... how its enough to scare off some folks.

And the bottom line is that McCain will get alot of support whether he has anything new to say or not. I will say this though ... if things like Roe vs. Wade are twisted in some fashion ... this will be a mistake ... and it will cause a Hell of a mess ... so go ahead and do it ... but dont cry later when you feel the effects of your decision ... with your daughters, family, etc. You will have so much to deal with from back shop abortions to runaway's, crossing borders, suicides ... and so much other crap ... that you will have to say triple the prayers! Heh, heh, heh ... it wont bother me a bit ... you all that are against it will only feel it's effect. Denying gays equal rights as citizens? Heh, heh, heh ... go ahead ... see what that gets you too. Make you all's bed any way you want ... cause you all are going to have to lie in it! Just the same way you all have to lie in this bed of reverse racism ... because of the idiotic oppression of blacks from our past. People dont cry until it hits home ... but ... it always hits home at one time or another ... heh, heh, heh. People like myself dont really care about what folks choose to value, we live and let live and have our values too.

Theres enough info on Obama out there to write a damn book ... and I been looking into alot of it ... but mostly focusing on reasons "why" he wouldnt be able to beat McCain ... and if he did, "why" wouldnt he be able to lead America. And there is a Hell of alot of good points out there. He certainly doesnt have the experience ... at all. Even if you look at past Presidents of modern times and their credentials that made Oval Office ... Obama ... doesnt meet any of the profiles. This guy is a shot in the dark ... or a crap shoot if there was ever one!

Looking into his resume and history ... he certainly doesnt look like he even faced hard times as some of us did. So also he looks like he dont give a rats ass about common working folks neither ... and he certainly doesnt know a damn thing much about these types either. Which is another reason why Clinton would be embraced a little more. When I voted for Bush in 2000 ... what I never done ... was look into his history, I just based my vote on what he done in Texas ... and he was a "uniter" and known for his bipartisan traits here. But also ... what I didnt account for ... was that Texas unlike many other states ... the Governor doesnt have ultimate power here. Texas doesnt really give out ultimate power to any political figure in many cases, most power in Texas ... goes to the people. Unlike the Presidency of the United States. Bottom line was Bush's power as Governor in Texas was very limited. Plus he was grooming to run for President ... so he kept a low profile. And been grooming for awhile. For instance ... I heard that he was probably going to run for the Presidency at least 2 years before he even announced he was. I worked for a local republican politician in the Dallas area for a few years ... and he told me this on the side.

So what in the Hell do I see in Barack Obama? I see all the strikes against him is what. I see how cool he is under pressure ,well mannered, frankness in his speaking, alot of unscripted as well. I look at his resume ... at things like going to Harvard, yet after leaving Harvard ... he is offered a job as a prestigious judicial clerkship. But turns it down and takes a job practicing "civil rights" law in Chicago ... representing victims of housing and employment discrimination, and working on voting rights legislation. So I ask myself ... why? He certainly isnt from South Chicago either or some poverty area anywheres ... nor probably never done a hard days work in his life. His dad was also Harvard educated. But still ... what drives this guy to take on the jobs he has...when he could have took others that paid well better and working in far better neighborhoods ... like some of his Harvard buddies going to Wall St. I feel that there is something in this man ... thats not showing, and it might be a positive thing as far as being straight up with people. There is something about him just a little different than alot of those that run for the office. And I like it! I think he might be keen to alot of BS too that he see's in Washington and is thinking ... "Damn ... this whole damn place needs an overhaul!"

I dont worry much about him not having a clear understanding of one of the most fundamental things to Americans freedom ... the Constitution ... after all ... he was a senior lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School specializing in "Constitutional Law". I am looking at the area's of interest that he has been pursueing since his younger years ... in education and employment. I am also looking at the fact, that like McCain ... he went into this as an underdog. I'm an older guy ... who has been looking at all these older people like me for years ... running things like ... well ... usual ... old school. I like the young inexperienced ones alot ... because their brains are not totally set and pre-conditioned as much as say folks my age and older. I really look forward to change! And most of what I see in Washington ... well ... is deadwood. With nothing fresh to say ... or any new, cutting edge idea's ... I am getting bored in other words. He wants to talk to the enemy? Go for it! give it a try ... Hell ... what do we have to lose? I'd piss on an armadillo if I thought it would do any good! If they dont want to deal ... oh well ... then were just back where we started ... but at least ... try something ... dont we all just get sick of the same crap over and over and nothing ever getting done? There is other SMALL things that he has on his resume ... after all ... he's no big name in politics, that I like as well ... but are pointless pointing out.

Supposedly ... his first name comes from the word that means "Blessed by God" in Arabic. This might contribute to people like Hamas liking him, and Americans not liking him ... I dont know. But despite his name ... the bottom line is that he is an American. I have no problem with his name ... and certainly would never hold anyone responsible for what happened on 9/ 11 ... who did NOT do it! Nor do I think that these groups of terror represent the overall Arab or Muslim people. I am looking forward to seeing "PRESIDENT OBAMA" at work, and I would like to see the crap shoot work ... and Senator Obama ... become President Obama.
