TEXAS STADIUM IMPLOSION .... the END of an ERA .... 1971-2010 ....

For those NFL fan's .... one of the most popular sight's throughout the 1970's, 80's, 90's up through 2008 has been Texas Stadium , so many do or die play- off, championship game's have been at this ole place. Yesterday was the implosion of it, only a hand full of folk's turned out (only about 20,000) to view it, which was a suprise to me, considering almost 7 million I hear now in the Metro area, a neighbor who moved here from Seattle told me when Seattle blew up the "Kingdome", former home of the Seattle Seahawks ,a half a million folk's showed in Seattle, which was almost the entire cities population. But some of those real die- hard fans I reckon wouldnt miss this for nothing. I live in Northwest Dallas, about 5 miles from it, and you could feel the vibration of it in the ground here in our neighborhood it was so powerful. Developer's been anxiously waiting for this, and one of the new rail line's is going straight through here as well (I believe the Orange Line), and a whole small city of sort is already planned for the site, complete with even a town park to memorialize the site of sort, a half a dozen new freeway expansion's, etc. For most fans, they just forgot it, after the game's started in the new nearby Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. The original starting home of the Dallas Cowboys still stands after millions in renovations, the Cotton Bowl, in Central Dallas, which Cowboys played in during the 1960's, as well as the, then AFC "Dallas Texans" (early 1950's for "Texans") Dallas had two NFL teams, the Texans later moved to Kansas City to become the "Kansas City Chiefs". **** first video from above, 2nd video a view from inside the stadium at ground level.

Kind of weird that our memories are all we have to such Iconic places that were what dreams were made.
I've never been to Texas stadium but can sympathize with the people.
I hope they hold down the cost of Hot Dogs in the new one.

  2. Mr.Tim: ..... Well I figure some like yourself and some Cowboys rival fan's would be happy to see this place fall (humor). But it has been one of those place's that flared fire's for one reason or the other coast to coast in NFL history indeed, alot of play-off showdown's at this joint, since we are in the "NFC East" our dearest and closest rival's are our division mate's which are the New York Giant's, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Washington Redskins, all four of us have been at each other's throat's for decade's, but yet, we still love the rivalries and each other ....weird ....heh?

Holding down hot dog cost's at the new one? Well .... nice thought but ....no way Jose, I hear the mixed drinx and beer's are more than the damn bar's at premium price's. Havent been in the new stadium ....YET. But I have been to several Cowboys game's in the old stadium.

As far as team's in your neck of the wood's (New York), I have been a fan of the New York Jets since the day's of "Broadway Joe", and the Buffalo Bills since back when OJ Simpson was breaking running record's as a back. I met OJ once in a "Chess King" men's clothing store in Buffalo as a kid, was so excited .... I forgot to ask the SOB for his autograph! :) .... But at least got to shake his hand and ask a few question's.

    Later Tim .........

  3. That's a lot of dust. Good thing it looks like the day wasn't too windy.

  4. Mr.Infidel: .... Yes the wind's were still around but mostly mild to compare to the power of the dust, it was at 7am. The first thing I wondered when watching this video (I didnt attend the implosion, since I was on the bloody road half the night) was the "cost" to do this?, being a business minded man myself and due to the tightened economic time's, I probably would have went to al- Qaeda to see what kind of price bid I could get from them to do it. :)

    Later Dude .........
