DEFENSIVE DRIVING COURSE? (PT.1) ....

A freeway traffic video cam caught this accident up here in our neighborhood area on the Dallas North Tollway .... I didnt even know anything about it, before just catching this video online. What is remarkable .... is no one was hurt. Now I'm not sure if the car swayed into the truck or the truck into the car .... but it was quite a sight. Is this what is termed as a "defensive driving course"? (just kiddin) .... but it appear's to me that the small car tried to run the Pepsi truck off the road after further review, I reckon that's one way to get another driver's atencion ... ya think? :)

North Dallas Tollway Truck Crash in Addison (Pepsi truck) ... Thanx to SuperiorPolitics

BONUS CRASH VIDEO/ ARTICLE: .... Here is another video and short article of another out of control vehicle just a couple day's after at our Dallas - Fort Worth International Airport toll booth's .... where in Hell did these folk's learn to drive? This lady, Ms. Yasmine Villasana , was intoxicated ( or at least according to the breath analysis test ... legally intoxicated which doesnt take much these day's ).... that early in the day? Probably one of those "Day Tripper's", heh? :) She even managed to jump out of her car that burst into flame's to make a cell call, and even according to another witness, attempted to get back into the burning vehicle .... not too wise though! :)

  2. Wow. The truck was in the middle lane and the car was in the outside lane. It moved over and forced the trucker to swerve to the inside lane and he obviously lost control.

My ex owned a fairly large concrete company. The few accidents involving cars were due to the drivers of the cars who are too stupid to realize that big rigs and heavy concrete mixers can't stop on a dime.

  4. Looked to me like the small car swerved into the truck. It is incredible if no one was hurt, especially in the cars on the opposite side of the freeway when the truck landed on them.

And just imagine the sound as the 50,000 or so cans of Pepsi in the truck went all fizzy and burst -- the burp heard 'round the world!

That's what we technically refer to as "natural selection in action".

  6. Ms.Leslie (TNlib): That is the way I seen it as well, as far as the car being at fault .... but nobody's hurt, and by Texas Law for the last few year's, you must have at least liabilty insurance now, they made it mandatory a few year's back. Your ex had a fairly large concrete company he must did alright .... Nashville has been a pretty busy town as far as construction, assuming it was there.

    Have a good un .........

  7. Mr.Infidel: I havent even thought about if any of that load might have fizzed, what a mess that would be, like I said, even though I live right by this I didnt know anything about it before this vid. A couple week's just prior, close by on another frwy (LBJ) a rental U-Haul flipped, that had explosive compound's in it (of course unregulated and illegal), but some of them leaked and they had to evacuate even neighborhood's, the driver was taken in custody, because they suspected it may be used for bomb's. That gal Villasana, obviously wasnt dealin with a full deck .... sounded like she just been up all night and drifted off at the wheel, plus coming down off the booze, you cant get tail bumped and knocked into a speed like that enough to hit a barrier and go airbourne, scientifically speaking.

    Later Guy ........

  8. Amazing. A few drivers had a story to tell that day!

It also amazes me how people can tolerate big city traffic & that kind of commuting every day.

  9. Ms.Rita: Howdy grrrrl .... yep, that would make a decent beer and barbeque story to tell! :)

As far as what folk's will put up with as far as commuting, you know how it is, folk's got to make a livin, and town is where the job's are, and most folk's dont have many awful experience's, few fender bender's etc. You do have rail and bus service as well, folk's still love the privacy of their vehicle's. Wreck's around this particular part of town (about 12 miles NXNW of downtown Dallas) are daily, there are 3 differnt frwy's that interchange here which are Dallas North Tollway, LBJ Frwy, and North Central Expwy, all meeting at a mix master called the "high five", one of the biggest and busiest in the nation (right around the corner from my home), almost 3 quarter's of a million vehicle's per day interchange in this one mixmaster. Other than that, DFW Metroplex has one of the best and largest frwy system's in North America, and traffic run's faily well ... I pretty much use them daily myself.

Thanx for your comment's and have a nice day Ms.Rita!

  10. and by Texas Law for the last few year's, you must have at least liabilty insurance now, they made it mandatory a few year's back.

I hope that guy's liability insurance was enough to cover the cost of one truck plus 50,000 cans of Pepsi.

There must have been a lot of unhappy people there. I was once stuck on a freeway in Oregon in a traffic jam because one of those huge RVs (about as big as a truck) had flipped over on its side and all the lanes but one were blocked. It took almost three hours to go just a few miles.

Villasana was probably just trying to save the cost of an air ticket by flying in her car, the cheapskate.

  11. You have a point Mr.Infifel, I havent even thought about the cost of what the liability will cover. You are informally made to get full coverage if your being financed on your vehicle only, bank's and dealership's joined do this so they arent caught with the loss, even the small mom and pop "tote the note" joint's with inhouse financing make you get full coverage.

Heh, heh, heh, heh, heh .... I dont know about ole Villasana, I am sure she felt miserable after a night's sleep and seeing what mess she done after she woke. From what I gather, she just dropped off someone to catch a flight. Oh well, she wont forget that one. I know if I was an attendant working in one of them booth's she flew by, it would have my damn heart going 100 mph, something I wouldnt forget since I survived, cause no doubt, if she would have hit one of the booths with the clerk's in it ... they probably would be dead.

  12. Mr.Infidel: As far as getting caught in a back up for nearly 3 hour's ... that would drive me up a wall! I listen to the traffic report's when I am out and about on freeway's frequently, just to avoid area's I may get caught, it work's pretty well to, I just get off and find an alternative route, even if it's on the street's, if I can ... but I rarely get caught in any lengthy back up at all. I'm sure your refering to the PDX metro area(?), having been to Portland, I seen how tight traffic was, it's much more compact than anything down this way, or anywhere's between here and LA, PDX is more like a northeastern city layout, similar to say Boston, which is very tight. I was reading where PDX was specifically designed that way to be compact and a town for folk's to be encouraged to walk, it has kind of a "euro" flavour as well. One of the best downtown's in the nation I ever seen too, as far as drawing in folk's! I read this because I was curious why city block's seemed so short in PDX ... I would walk 3 city block's there compared to one here it seemed like, in the same amount of time, then found out they were also specifically designed to attract walking.

  13. Unfortunately that three-hour back-up happened to me when I was heading toward Portland from another town -- it was a fair distance from the metro area and there was no alternate route to take. Within Portland it would have been easier to get off the freeway and use surface streets.

Regarding your post title, if this was a "defensive driving course", I'd say that truck was the final exam, and the car driver flunked.

Downtown Portland is certainly built for walking. It makes it a bit difficult to drive there, though.
