Why the name Ranch Chimp? it was in humour because, science says that humans have similar DNA to a chimpanzee,so I felt some way related biologically to a chimpanzee. 2nd, everytime I was out of Texas on a vacation or for whatever reason I’m always asked things like, do I live on a ranch?,or have cattle? so I commonly call Dallas the Ranch. "Politically Depressed" was also humour inspired by the 1993- 2002 Bill Maher TV/ tele show "Politically Incorrect".

BROWNOUT- BROWN SABBATH | KEXP SEATTLE: "Iron Man", "The Wizard", "Planet Caravan", "N.I.B.", and "Fairies Wear Boots"
Maverick Music Festival, 2015, San Antonio
**** brownoutmusic.com
This entry into the music/ arts honour roll society of this journal/ blog, will be to feature the band "Brownout", in particular their 2014 release of "Black Sabbath" covers, called "Brown Sabbath", which I been wanting to feature in here for some time now. If I had to choose one word to describe their sound, it would have to be "excellent". This project's members/ musicians, are of the popular Grammy Award latin- funk crew, Grupo Fantasma, out of Austin (TX), it's their side project. They kicked off around 2003, played around with the concept of incorporating rock and Brownout, that took shape around 2008, in particular Sabbath's music because of the raw sound and guitar riffs/ rythms in Sabbath's music with powerful bass, and how it aligns with jazz and blues. Brownout as a group has released 5 albums to date. Unique about the arrangement in this project, is the genre mix of instrumental, and the instrumental work of all, really stands out ... I mean, there is progressive rock, jazz fusion, funk, classic rock, latin, and more ... a very versatile mix, with an excellent final product. The way the horn section and percussions work is laid out, really adds a flare to it, too ... the horn work really stands well in this, replacing to an extent the original song's guitar rythms, and blues harmonica on "The Wizard" ... yet, the guitar and bass work in this really stands out too, and good vocal work. This crew has been working on alot though, even working as a backing band for others, and award winning popular artists, such as Prince and Bernie Worrell. They do alot of road work too, many festivals, big to small gigs, and hear that they will be a top act at the upcoming UTOPiAfest, november 14- 16, down in Burnet, TX. Below, they perform in Seattle's KEXP studio, and Thanx to KEXP 90.3 FM ... in the first video they will do "Iron Man", and "The Wizard", then the host of KEXP Morning Show, John Richards, will do a brief interview with them, then they will perform "Planet Caravan", and "N.I.B.". The second video below that, will be "Fairies Wear Boots", another all time favourite of mine, that I alwayz enjoyed singing myself, just a fun song ... which was a couple years later at a return invitation to the KEXP studios. Thanx to this crew for all their music, and best to them all! ... Enjoy! ....
