  1. Some unusual stuff here -- and the first one is great! Why have I not heard of Broken Peach before? It surprised me when I found out they're Spanish. They sing so well in English I would never have guessed it's not their first language.

The Bauhaus guy reminds me a little of Davie Bowie.

Is that really LaVey doing Satan Takes a Holiday? I remember his voice as being deeper.

I think Halloween is the top American holiday now (don't tell the fundies). It inspires endless creativity, whereas Christmas is always pretty much the same and stresses people out with endless obligatory shopping.

  2. Infidel ... actually Peter Murphy of Bauhaus looked up to Bowie as the perfect frontman, so Bowie was an influence, yes ... I think some of what you said was comparing some of the vocal style. Bowie way different and a variety of genre though ... Murphy/ Bauhaus post punk goth type. Bauhaus is a favourite of mine for late night listening mood. Broken Peach doe s bunch of various sounds, they have alot of covers, pop music or whatever, very versatile. Xmas is stressful for folks too, no doubt, even experts say that, some depression etc. The commercialization of it and obligatory responsibilities, spending and such can be demanding. Like LaVey said ... Halloween, just basic fun times, dress up and party type deal ... but I also hear that Halloween is up there only 2nd to Xmas as far as "sales", so commercialization can haunt that too to an extent I guess. Of course that wasnt LaVey singing ... that was his wife Blanche Barton on vocals, he of course does keyboards/ synthesizers (LaVey never was much as far as vocals anywayz IMO ... great of the keys though). Satan Takes a holiday has 2 cuts, one just instrumental and one with vocals with Blanche, but many name artists for decades have also covered that song too, way before LaVey did, Tommy Dorsey done it back in 1937 for example, as was written by Larry Clinton. Thanx for your input here.

  3. Thanks for finding Broken Peach. I'll be posting this song and "Hocus Pocus" on my blog later this week. Last year, it was Dancing German Witches. This year, Singing Spanish Witches.

I also enjoy "Bela Lugosi's Dead," but I prefer the cover by Nouvelle Vague to the original by Bauhaus. It gets all the lyrics with less of the filler.

  4. Thank You P-S, glad you enjoyed the Broken Peach Halloween piece. I understand about the lyrics thing with Bela Lugosi's Dead ... in fact, that cover of it by Nouvelle Vague is really an outstanding cover of it, especially the 'live' version. Being a long time fan of Bauhaus, I was compelled to post them. Thanx for your input here P-S
