Tash Sultana- The Feed (Interview) ... Thanx to SBS VICELAND

This selection for the music/ arts honour roll society of this journal/ blog is one I been intending for some time now. To honour, sample and highlight some of the music of Tash Sultana (Wikipedia) out of Melbourne, Australia ... because when I first laid eyes and ears on this artist, I knew she was a bundle of talent, and her vocal abilities really stood out with me. For me, Tash is top notch category as far as composition, multi- instrumental coordination and use, with uniquely smooth yet powerful vocal abilities, as well as outstanding guitar work ... a natural rhythm machine all wrapped up in one. Tash is considered as a one woman band ... Tash does it all and masters any instrument she layz her hands on, whether it's woodwinds, percussions, keyboards, strings, etc. Tash is a self taught musician who started on a guitar her grandfather gave her at age 3. She used music in a psychotherapeutic way to overcome some obstacles she faced as a teen as well ... to clear her mind you can say. Having an indie entrepreneurial type spirit, she started street busking her music, being she had a difficult time trying to fit into the standard conformity of society and finding a regular job. While busking on the streets of Melbourne to earn a living, she also in 2013 hooked up her stuff on Bandcamp, later putting her worx on YouTube, receiving millions of views in short time ... gaining a following there as well as the local street scene. She started touring and playing on larger scale productions as well ... and putting out an EP that went over well quickly on her own independent record label, receiving a couple awards, also getting significant recognition and play in Europe as well (tonedeaf.com). 2017 was a year of endless touring for her, with sold out shows in various countries of the globe ... so 2018/ 2019 will even be bigger with release of her first full album coming in 2018 ... her father quit his job to be her roadie on the touring. Even while touring, she has also still done busking on the streets.

I selected videos from live on stage performance, to street busking, to studio ... from electronic to acoustic to sample below, and an interview with her at the top of the posting. She will also be added in the "Beautiful Girlz" series for her beauty, personality and showmanship, being an inspiration to others of her generation that have faced similar obstacles, her talent, DIY independent entrepreneurial approach, and view on life. I am wishing her the best of best in her career and the reward that comes with it, and you can expect much to come from this musician in time, bank on it! ... Enjoy ....

I enjoyed that! Never heard of her, but my musical tastes are pretty mundane.

Glad you enjoyed it Bum ... I really loved that Blackbird piece of hers too working on that 12 string acoustic! Not hearing about her, is simply a matter of searching for music. You can go online or indie radio in your town ... in Dallas for instance we have a community paid station called KNON 89.3 (I'm sure you have an equivalent in your area) ... a variety from indie artists to noted classic artist covering several genres of music, from alternative rock, hip hop to country, to classic to metal and punk, etc ... no corporate control, demand and what's played is chosen by people/ public/ listener. It's the best way to go these dayz, because the only music that is promoted in mass is all controlled, planned, censored and marketed by the mega corporate industry.
