This posting will serve 3 series in this journal, which will focus on a compilation of interviews with former Baltimore police officer Michael Wood and what he has to say about the current policing condition in America, Michael had to retire due to a shoulder injury. I chose Michael though for the "Veterans Spotlight" series, for his service for America as a U.S.Marine ... and for the "Public Patriots" series for all that he is doing to bring awareness to our current condition with his work in speeches/ testimonies, writing instruction guides for policing and promoting change in recruitment as well as training ... since this get's to root of some of the excessive force, especially in black urban communities ... it will also be included in the "Police Brutality" series. He is also the kind of guy that need's to get more mainstream coverage, and even called on by folks like the President to give advice in places like Washington or wherever needed ... he explains the "Us vs. Them" mentality well too, pointing out the problem's with that and everything else in this polarized society. I have every reason to believe everything that he is saying in these interviews from my personal experiences in life and what I witnessed, and reason why I been writing about this since the start of this journal, as a matter of fact ... it is some of the most straight talk from Michael without beating around the bush that I have heard out of a police officer, what makes it better is coming from an officer that is a former well experienced military veteran, and as an officer with 11 years working in various divisions of the police department on the streets. I have heard some question his motives, as if it is to sell books or whatever business, as for me, I really dont care about his motives, I care about the importance of what he is doing. This should inspire others to come out and try to make needed change in their departments, because there are many officers out there that really dont like how things are and sometimes want to speak out or talk about it, but feel to stay in a closet and not go against the grain for various reasons ... whether it be intimidation, retaliation from others in the department, fear of losing their job or having their duties downgraded, etc. These folks that serve are doing their jobs only and trying to please those who are superiors in ranks ... many have families to support like those in any other career, Michael has a wife and young daughter ... to make a move like he did requires courage, strength and determination to do what is fair and needed.

Some of what he said is insane even, as far as training, to the point where even fellow police officers who are former military veterans like Michael, are in shock to some of the stings and raids that go down, the insane use of force (some even beyond what they seen in combat, and ridiculously staged), while upon entry actually pointing lasers at each other and innocents before thinking, as if was some Hollywood action movie! ... re- training is past due. There is too much reassigning and sort of multi- tasking going on in my opinion too, although it gives officers more experience like on different task forces/ divisions, there is not enough time to settle in and get to know your community if you're a rookie being shifted around too much. A key point that Michael brings up is the politics/ legislation, and as Michael sayz ... they make it all legal ... as I myself even point out like a broken record in this journal on related issues, and how difficult it is to even get a conviction or real justice on an officer who is CLEARLY in the wrong, even with compelling evidence and video ... so dont blame cops on that one ... blame the politicians/ law makers. Also the heavier than ever pushing officers to make quota's I think is a problemo too, I mean ... this isnt a manufacturing/ production job working on an assembly line! Michael stated how he basically was put in a situation to where he had to go to economically challenged urban area's to make busts/ collars just to make quota's ... this forces officers to make a collar for anything they can, regardless if it's actually a crime or not. There also need's to be reassurance from the upper ranks in the departments that those who voice on these problems have more support, especially from the IAD (internal affairs divisions) to secure information better.

Politically in this nation, NOT enough is done, they are voted in by us and given a decent salary and benefits, SO THEY have the POWER to change things and make legislation. I dont give a shit about campaign talk over things like "Black Lives Matter" ... until there is action out of our politicians with a record of performance, it dont mean shit ... bottom line. Baltimore for instance even had many black rep's in their government and law, courts, etc ... what the Hell good has it done, eh? ... this playz as well coast to coast ... and feeding this institutionalized racism ... when people raise Hell in the streets and do damage ... like in what I called the "Baltimore Resistance", IT IS JUSTIFIED as much as peaceful protest's. Thank goodness for movements as well like "Black Lives Matter" and all the splinters of things like the Occupy Movement, which I started pointing out in this journal early on, as being needed to inspire more anger, action and demands ... so it continues to grow, and much credits to those and especially social media's. I personally credit much of the problem to this fad culture of extreme corporate greed today, it dont matter if it's in finance, eliminating affordable housing to move millionaires in, dictating our politician's, to the war on our civil rights, to making the petty non criminal prison industry private and for profit only, or much else ... I mean ... shit rolls down hill, eh? ... which I look as another passing fad that will see it's mistakes in time when they themselves feel the results of what they created. This is the worst progress and stalling we had in this nation since the Great Depression and the Civil Rights Movement.

BERNIE SANDERS/ DALLAS RALLY 2015: Blazin & BERNin Through the "BIG D" ... Best Little TOWN HALL in Dallas ... The "ROUSIN 8000" Edition ... (From The FOXHOLE with Bernie PT.25)

Part 25 of the "From The FOXHOLE with Bernie" series ... is more of a memorabilia posting for this journal. According to the Dallas Morning News linked below, 8000 attended this "town hall" meeting here yesterday in downtown Dallas, which was RSVP ... and what better place to have it but the Financial and Arts Districts of downtown! I suggested earlier in the morning that we get there early and glad I did, because I was reading that this was being held in a hotel ballroom, which I calculated looking at the venue capacity and square footage, wouldnt be able to squeeze in more than about 3000 standing at most (and that would be cramming them), so I told a friend I am guessing we may have a tad more than 3000 (ya think?), and I would like to get there early to get a good spot ... although it's not a small hotel being 42 stories. I also read that Houston had to change the venue they chose because of the crowd that may show, which they changed to the Hofheinz Pavilion in Houston to accommodate which is considerably larger (I attended several rock concerts in there when I was younger living in Houston), and that as well I read here (KHOU/ HOUSTON) got over 5200. But YES ... it was as packed as you can get here in Dallas ... the ballroom you couldnt squeeze another body in there if you tried! Outside the ballroom in the convention area there were thousands more crammed in watching these large video screens. The enthusiasm and excitement Bernie roused was electrifying ... I have never seen a town hall meeting here in town with the energy this had ... and Bernie as usual was hitting all the right spots with the crowd and really had us going and loud! It was just the "best little town hall in Dallas" ... with Bernie blazin and bernin! And Thanx to the Senator for dropping in to enlighten and support us down here on this mid- July hot summer day (being from Vermont, I'm sure he noticed the heat, which was in the upper 90's and typical here in July) ... because as the Senator pointed out in his Dallas and Houston speech, much of the Washington establishment Democrat Party turns their back on Texas and basically ignores it, nor supports us very much, so here we have to challenge this neo Republican stronghold alone basically ... so Thank You Sir! This posting will serve as Part 6 of the "Health Care Reform: another Form of Reform" series, with also another related series linked below called "Health Care SnoweJob". But what inspires this Part 6, is so many folks stories over the last couple years locally here in Texas that are having more problems than ever with insurance and health care ... and also because there is not enough coverage on this as far as mainstream news or politically ... again, unfortunately we are media saturated with this Confederate Flag rubbish which took up a couple weeks of political and media bitch- fighting before getting resolved ... and of course Donald Trump whining about Mexican's, who dont know a damn thing about working class Mexicans, immigration, assume (at least in speeches) many have criminal intentions for coming here ... or probably never even known any besides those with big money, the odd thing about many American millionaires/ billionaires, with several like Trump running in politics, is they use the services of illegal/ legal immigrants (Mexican or others, Trump himself at least admit's it, while other's wont) and even investing in ventures/ projects out of our country that is simply to get by on the "cheap" for workers to increase their profit's ... or in this case using it politically. Or other big news of some Presidential candidate hopefuls lying about each other instead of focusing hard on issues. I chose Senator Bernie Sanders above to open this posting, because there is probably no one in Washington who has fought for a more balanced and cost efficient health care system in this country than him ... and Thank Goodness that he is running for President, because talk about fixing this is rare on Capitalism Hill (aka Capitol Hill). But, we have a serious dilemma of catastrophic economic proportion growing in this country, and you simply cant have your cake and eat it, something/ someone has to give. And as usual I was expecting this to come in time as you can see throughout these series in this journal/ blog over the last 6 or 7 years or so. Anyone who reads this that does not know me personally, I will tell you straight up that I'm not a conspiracy theorist or panic type guy ... when I say this can be economically catastrophic, I really mean that ... looking at the basic math will show you that if something is NOT done about this, it will hit us like a brick to the head/ skull at some point. There are too many special interests here not planning or looking ahead, and it's not a conspiracy, but many for different reasons just acting out of extreme greed, financial panic, politics ... and not thinking. Even the "fraud" alone today from doctors to medical services providers to nurses in the US is enormous, and the largest of investigations and take- downs in U.S.Department of Justice history, which I linked below. Too much problem also is in politics of the left and right, you have now on the right a strong movement to repeal the ACA (aka ObamaCare), yet have NO alternative plans to solve any of this ... so it's just political inspired by some special interests, and eventually we are going to have a cash crash, either with providers/ companies first or the insured/ uninsured/ customers ... but both will take the hit in time. The design basically like so much else in this country is just to keep you in debt till death as a sort of investment, but cant work in the longrun. Those that want to just repeal ObamaCare/ ACA or cut the government subsidies and think it will solve problems are so wrong, why in Hell do you think the U.S.Supreme Court ruled to leave subsidies in place? ... they can see what will happen if you remove them, yet have a mandatory law in place to buy insurance, even though I am sure some of the right wing justices want to, those subsidies to the lower working classes are also needed revenues to providers, and those people with the new health care could NOT afford to even keep the mandatory insurance without help, especially with decreasing wages and under- employment with the costs of living overall. But even our declining middle classes which are a key part of the bread and butter of our economy are being squeezed even more than ever.

One guy I know (Tim), had to recently get some day surgery for a small growth in his nose, making it difficult to breathe through his nose, his insurance is mostly paid for by his employer, he pay's a small part of it, and he also had to change that after the ACA went into law, also pay more out of his paycheck to cover/ subsidize the employer costs of the new ACA, even though as an employee dont have ObamaCare ... but Tim had no problemo with that, what he did have a problem with was having to shop for doctors, I think one wanted $5000 up front and he settled for one that wanted $2500 up front just to get it done ... plus his out of pocket, deductible expenses, etc, those of which can get paid later ... but he had to withdraw money (also another fee) out of his 401K just to get in. Another gal I know Judy who's husband died in an accident, now has no insurance and she is under- employed since her husband made the larger household income, she has a knee problem that requires surgery, since her husband died she is no longer on his plan for some reason (I thought as a surviving spouse they should offer her something), I told her to get on the ObamaCare deal, because she has no insurance and because IF she dont, they will start to keep any tax refund she has and penalize/ fine her ... she knew nothing of this though. But Judy cant afford insurance on what she makes, or can even afford the out of pocket it would cost on what she makes, and she already went through everything her husband had saved. Another woman I know (Jane), who has 2 young children and gets no solid/ steady support from her "ex" just told me she prays that her or her kids dont get sick, because the insurance plan she did have to buy is all she could afford on her wages, and the out of pocket would "kill her" (in her own words), she worx 2 part time jobs. Another guy (Randy) who is a independent self- employed contractor in AC work (which of course is seasonal) with some fly- by- night "self employed" insurance plan he's never had to use yet, told me he dont give a shit about the law to buy insurance and if he gets on the spot and decides to drop what he has, let them fine him or whatever. Some I have talked to will just go to emergency rooms regardless considering the expenses of what they do have insurance wise. Those are just a few of what I heard, all single working class citizens, one with 2 young children, that pay all their own bills on modest incomes with no assistance, therefore like many other working class Americans, really dont even have much money saved in the bank (these dayz it is much harder for Americans to save any money, because they are nickel and dimed to death on everything else), having to take out of their 401K's or put on credit cards, etc. There are others I hear from such as neighbours that are contractors, or work for small companies, construction to carpentry workers, etc ... and there are millions upon millions more across America that are in the same boat.

I also suspect now that some are not getting the same equal care and out of pocket expenses as others that have ObamaCare ... the reason is because a few months back I was visiting my doctor getting an annual type basic check up deal, and while in the office overheard a couple employees in the same office debating on what to do with a patient that had ObamaCare as far as payments who was in the waiting area ... one telling the other to decline certain procedures and to charge a cash up front minimum to even get seen ... and Yes ... the question from one lady/ staff employee to the other was .... "what do we do with this patient? ... they have that ObamaCare", showing the ID card to the other, the one responding/ deciding was shaking her head, of course it wasnt my business, but I couldnt help to hear and see their reaction. I myself am fortunate to be on a large group plan through the company of my wife, but even on my insurance when these ACA changes went through, my original doctor who I really liked was removed from our plan and I had to get another primary care doctor. Many Americans who work for small businesses may not be on large group plans and have insurance policies that are really not very good, although they are required by law to have them, and many cant afford what they have, even many middle class will have their credit ratings destroyed due to medical debt. The whole medical care and insurance system in the U.S. is also so complicated with too many parts, co-pays, co- insurers, and enough to confuse the Hell out of most ... I mean ... you would damn near have to take a college course to understand it, or waste endless hours of time you dont have, as much as having to endlessly shop around when your sick or in need of surgery/ treatment.

The ACA (HHS.gov/HealthCare) has several advantages sure (only because our system was not much to begin with), such as certain paid screening's, which insurers want anywayz for preventive care, such as most car repair places will give you give free checks/ inspections to find what is wrong and fix it to get your business, especially having in law not being turned down for pre- existing conditions and having no annual spending cap, and America does have really great care for those who can afford it. But this doesnt mean that we are not in dire need of reform to the whole system still ... abolishing ObamaCare is just political and solves none of the issues ... we need to keep what we have and reform from there. I am one that supports the need for a single payer type system as Senator Bernie Sanders talks about, or as even President Obama tried to get through with his partial public option plan at first that lobbyists and politicians both left and right in Congress threw in the trash. The reason I was for President Obama's "20% public option", is because I REALIZE you cant just shut out the entire insurance/ medical/ pharmaceutical industries in America at this point in time, WITHOUT it having a disastrous effect on the American economy, only 20% would handle the lower income people (which is still a savings to the taxpayers and government over paying for emergency room services across the board), but insurance, pharmaceutical and medical services provider lobbyists, even though they would still have 80% of the market, complained that a 20% public option would put them out of business, which is false, if they are as great as they say they are and competitive as they claim, it was just greed on their part, because that 20% going to government, is 20% out of their profit's, which is in the billions annually. Even my daughter and her husband who are both RN's here in Dallas, as well as my sister-in-law and her husband who are also both RN's in Toronto (Canada), and a doctor of mine who all told me in past, that they agree that our health care expenses here in U.S. is way out of whack, and needs real change. This should be a priority focus of politicians from the President on down and pushed very hard by the voters in this country, or else our economy will suffer more severely in time ... not get better, because of our neglect to control some of this and fix what is clearly broken before it breaks us.

Part of what inspired this posting is all the mainstream news about these so called Super PACs and the scrambling of candidates to grab all the big bucks they can, and while taking a walk this morning, a pile of day old dogshit on a curb with flies swarming all over it like a cheap suit on sunday! Being non professional and somewhat disorganized when it comes to blogging and also kind of scatter brained and spontaneous, odd things may inspire a posting, a pamphlet or used condom on the sidewalk, or in this case a pile of old dogshit ... You know ... you can look at this campaign funding a thousand different wayz and twist all kinds of shit out of it ... it can look like a cancer or a blessing to democracy or whatever, the bottom line though is commitment to those who financially support you, and this has gotten entirely ridiculous. I mean like, all in the mainstream of media politically, is who is getting the most money and how they need to slither around this and that on how they campaign and get it, who can tell the best story and outspeak the other, etc, and nothing more than a game avoiding what needs to actually get done, and when you get paid, you're supposed to work. Most folks regardless or what job/ career they're in ... cater to those who give them a paycheck/ finance/ support, because that is simply how it worx ... and this is why I strongly feel that we should get ALL the money out of politics and go with public funding through government, and even millions of others are starting to feel this way ... what we see now is a sort of a commitment to ethics that are unethical. You cant accept this money without having to pay a service, just as you cant go to your daily job and be on the clock and do nothing. It in my opinion is making our politics a pile of dogshit more than it's been in years, with billionaires like flies swarming all over it ... and someone need's to scoop up the poop and get rid of it.

This whole thing was engineered and born to reform our society to their liking, not to save democracy or to even embrace it for that matter. The Republican Party makes it clear as day what their agenda is, and it sure as Hell is not about creating decent paying jobs, fair and open free trade, familia values or the related, they are clear that their mission is to reform our society to work in alignment with international corporate and banking monopolization and reducing our quality of living, pay and choice, so that we can compete with those in 3rd world countries, and to privatize everything we have from our government and politics to our mothers ... and especially to transform Social Security (another cash grab) ... turning it all over to the entities who finance them or who are commonly referred to as "elite" ... an entity that basically sits on their ass and figures out wayz to rob others ... that I simply refer to as "day old shit", and now with a growing support from establishment Democrat's. And the ruling establishment of the Democrat Party has NOT been very clear at all on what their agenda is, looking at some of their actions and not saying much, except to oppose Republicans. Sure, you can make the argument that with Super PACs you can have a more diversified selection of candidates that wouldnt otherwise be able to get the financial backing, but it's a Hell of a price to pay for it ... look who they owe to regardless of what political party they belong to. The Republicans probably have over a dozen possible candidates nearly a year and a half before the election, yet all with the same bottom line agenda and commitment.

In the largest media's they act so excited over this and seeing the candidates ass kissing for this money, and equally as excited over the miscellaneous bitch fights between them, who has the most money or biggest house, as if it is a sort of entertainment, which I reckon it is of sort, and those media journalist's are kind of forced to do that or look for another job, but it should be pointed out more for what it truly is, not focusing on dumb shit for weeks at a time like how many email accounts a candidate like Hillary Clinton has, I mean, who really gives a shit about how many email accounts she has? (multiple email accounts are NOT illegal or unethical), what a candidates favourite movie is or related nonsense ... we need to address ISSUES ... JOB RELATED issues that are holding us back from progress that benefits the majority of all. I have met so many folks over the years that thought I was dumb as a door knob to even waste my time voting, because they looked at it as rigged and pre- paid to begin with that does nothing, and I understand why they would think that, but I still alwayz voted regardless ... now with something as clearly obvious as this new Super PACs paying everything, that could discourage folks more, but I would hope that it get's people angry and motivates folks to act, and especially new younger generations. Senator and candidate Bernie Sanders thinx we need a political revolution of sort and get more and more people involved with the voting process, I feel similar.

This is why you see so many now questioning this and groups starting up to tear this down and stop things like this Citizens United crap, and it's in order and right to tear this down in anyway possible, because this isnt just happening in America ... look anywhere around the globe today and you can see it is all connected to one ideology and nonsense to making us global, loving and submissive to them. They want to even take away any consumer, environmental, labour protections, or anything else to make their profit margin larger and to make us all more dependent on them ... and to look at them as a type of saviour, an entity that will abandon us and this country anyway regardless of what we give them once we have nothing left. Understand that one of the reason's for billionaires and your largest investments to merge these multi- national too big to fail corporate and finance/ banking entities to rathole the majority of wealth today and lower our standards ... is not just to make us compete more for less, but because these entities "know" that the future societies will have less need for large populations of labourer's and consumers, and capitalism as we now know it will change, ratholing the wealth "now" is to build "their" future empires, NOT ours, because they see it as we will no longer be needed ... and THAT is why it is importante for us now to work on this and challenge this, because future prosperity doesnt have to be exclusively for ANY particular group, culture, social/ wealth status, etc ... a strong growing middle classes can work well WITHOUT the extreme rich or extreme poor. And many are so intoxicated financially, they cant even control their own environment and bowels without screwing up and asking for our money/ subsidies/ bailouts when they fall or just to succeed ... so you have to ask ... what can they do for us? ... and what real value are they? I dont personally see any value in them or half their political puppets ... as far as I'm concerned, I dont want their support or to be dependent on them if that's how they choose to play ... which is destructive to themselves even in the longrun ... you dont marry failure, unless you choose to fail.
