This induction into this journal's music/ arts honour roll society is to showcase some of the work of UK punk great, the U.K. Subs, which is another past due for this journal, and what a remarkable history and influence on the entire punk scene/ movement not just of London or UK, but the world this crew has been! (and the London punk scene is absolutely incredible and excellent!) One of my favs up there with folks like X- Ray Spex, Sex Pistols , The Ramones , The Distillers , Civet , and Lunachicks to name some. Of course alot of credit here to songwriter and vocalist Charlie Harper, who is the one who primarily held this together for nearly 4 decades and still keeps it raw as day one, yet fresh as alwayz ... they have played with the best of the best on so many bills large and small, and even took several songs of theirs to make it into the UK Top 40 at the same time, while still keeping that underground undertaste .
The band goes back to 1976 of the original punk explosion out of the UK and originally called the Subversives ... but this crew had such an impact on the entire punk scene genres to this day still, yet had quite a turnover in band members adding fresh instrumental flavours of like guitar work too over the years, it's just a crew that is alwayz going and going like that Energizer Bunny character {: ) I also wanted to include a nice live version of the 1965 classic by The Sonics, "Strychnine", which is a fav, also done later by The Cramps and Joe Christ.
I was also wanting to dedicate this posting to a local drummer (although she is not currently active in a band, due to she goes to college full time working on her nursing degree) "Skirzi" who is friend's since school with Hannah and Gabriel (Paragraph 3) and likes to indulge in the history of punk genres as influences ... this is one that Skirzi was not familiar with that I pointed out because of their history ... and this is simply how it's done Dear! {: ) ....
