This induction into this journal's music/ arts honour roll society will be to highlight and taste a classic compilation album released in 1985 on the Some Bizarre/ EMI label called "If You Can't Please Yourself, You Can't Please Your Soul" , this is one of them compilation's that's really a musical work of art in these genre's, and one that I have recommended time and again to the younger generation's of musician's who enjoy exploring the alternative industrial and electronika sound's and their root's, which actually go way back to folk's even like Ruth White in the 1960's at that, and one group that many dont think of or relate to this in the 1960's that are more known as a rock music icon of sort, yet had early root's in experimental was Pink Floyd  ... and then strongly explored with folk's like Nurse With WoundGenesis P- Orridge of the Throbbing Gristle & Psychic TV , Severed Heads , The Residents  , Coil , then evolving more commercially incorporated in a more mainstream atmosphere with folk's like Front 242 , Yello My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult , Skinny Puppy  , MC 900 Ft Jesus , J.G. Thirlwell/ Foetus , Ministry  ... and the list is almost endless, it just played such an influence across the board in the newer rock, hip hop, jazz fusion, elektronica, trance, new wave, and so much else with the modification's to the equipment ... but yes ... originally started out as simple as folk's beating on trash can's and bottle's or similar, so it has some very primitive musical root's as well, but that's too long a story to get fully into here ... it was more of an experimental transition period in modern music.

The same thing happened decade's previous to that with these folk's inspiring so much for contemporary music like Django Reinhardt , Scott Joplin , and Sonny Boy Williamson , Muddy Waters . All music in an odd way is "pop"ular music, in the respect that it is a reflection of the era which it's active, such as the music of the great iconic composer J. S. Bach in the early 18th century ... which 2 centuries later inspired folk's like the great Swedish composer Yngwie Malmsteen , etc. I had the opportunity to work with some industrial artist's and spend time in the scene in London (UK), New York City, and Dallas back in the 1980's/ 1990's, so it was not just an experience, but very inspiring as well, and some memories I cherish. So just to sample some of this great music and compilation, I chose a few below off this classic album ... Enjoy!
